Restoration to Shooting Condition
We evaluate the restorability
of each gun on a case by case basis. This includes an assessment of the metal condition, the soundness of the parts,
and safety for potential shooting. Restoration to shooting condition is not always possible. When it is, the cost
depends on the starting condition of the gun.
Restoration as a Display Item
Not all old guns are restorable as shooters, but many times good metal and wood refinishing can
make that old gun look as the manufacturer originally intended. This is a great option for family heirlooms and
other instances when the value of the item is based more on display.
About Our Process
Our restoration processes for wood and metal produce a look as close as possible to the original. We restore
full guns, and individual parts. All refinishing of metal is done by hand to preserve the contours of the original part
and engraving of trademark names and patents. Wood refinishing processes include hand oil finishes where appropriate
to reproduce the original effect.
We provide free estimates for each job. An initial estimate can
be provided via phone and e-mail based on photos of the gun. A complete estimate and appraisal on the restorability
of the gun can only be made through an in-person inspection. Following the in-person inspection, we provide a more
detailed estimate of the work involved and the costs.
